My new artwork is a pointed commentary on the current state of race relations in America. Santa's elves are typically thought of as being jolly and benevolent, but in my painting they are shown as armed and dangerous. The black children in the painting are representative of the inequities faced by minorities in our country. By juxtaposing the two images, I hope to spark a discussion about the need for gun reform and social justice in America. |
